We welcome you to the University of Bristol for the BALEAP 2017 Conference to look at English for Academic Purposes (EAP) from a variety of different perspectives and to reflect on how we can learn from each other, with the aim of building bridges between different communities of practice.

We plan to keep the student at the centre of our conference in line with the long tradition of learning-centred teaching in EAP and the recent focus on student partnerships in higher education in the UK. We would also like to address the state of the union between EAP specialists and their universities in a range of contexts.
